Shiffali’s work explores the inherently conformist nature of human society in deeper detail. What she observes around her and makes others see, feel and question is our preconditioned psychology and social construct especially pertaining to women. The artist says: “My approach is surrealist in nature, where in I juxtapose realist portraiture with unlikely backgrounds or situations. By juxtaposing realism with imagined backgrounds, flat patterns and metaphorical symbolism, I want to initiate an honest intimate dialogue, between my work and the viewer, wherein they can reflect on shared experiences and thoughts.”
